Make a Glittery Valentine Card with Packing Tape!

My Valentine Card using embossing and a glittery heart made using masking tape. Please scroll to post's end to view Challenges for Valentine's if you're interested.   Hello, hope you are visiting my blog from some sunny part of the world because it is cold beyond belief here - brrrrr!   However, I "warmed" up my spirit playing around with lots and lots of techniques and fun ideas to celebrate Valentine's Day this year!   One technique I have never tried till now was to make a take a small strip of clear packing tape and douse it with glitter - it looked so fun to do - and it was!  Give it a try.   Create an opening cut out of  piece of cardstock using your preferred method [punch, die-cut, scissors] and back it with a strip of clear packing tape and then sprinkle dry glitter over the exposed sticky tape and in seconds you have a cool glittery accent :) CARD HOW-TO I first played around with embossing folders and inks. I si...

Embossed Hearts Valentine Card

Recall my recurring theme this year is to try NEW THINGS? I love-love-LOVE this style.. white-on-white 'embossing' with washy colourful accents "peeking out"!  It's soooo pretty!   I am pleased to say the projects were fun to make :)   A COLOURFUL WASH OF HEARTS.... First create a wash by dropping various ink refill colours next to one another onto a plate along with a small amount of water - *** avoid mixing the colours too much .  Have white cardstock waiting. Next using some very simple heart foam stamps, I dipped a stamp partially into one colour and then turned the stamp and dipped another part into a second colour, and so on.  Be careful! Dipping too much may make a muddy result. Stamp your design onto white cardstock, I stamped  an arc of hearts, masking some in the process.  The results were very rainbow-coloured indeed! ....EMBOSS OVER-TOP IN WHITE While pretty enough,  I moved onto the next stage....Clean your stam...

My new Alesa Baker Stamps and Valentine Cards

Hi - Happy February!!! Yep, happy February - know why? Because its my birthday month (high-five), but mostly because once February is over then I know the warmer weather is-a-comin'!!!!  Super yay!!!  Honestly tho, if we survive Feb., then its clear sailing, right? OK - I decided to make a new style of cards....because I have a well-established "look" which I developed over time but now if I am to keep on bringing joy to this hobby, then I need to learn new things.  Keep it fresh!  While I have decided to embrace the new modern, I also want to try other styles such as a homespun and/or shabby look. While I am now in love with a few (new-to-me) designers and will draw inspiration from them, today I am talking about ALESA BAKER !  I found her stamps on Impression Obsessions website, and chose a few of her stamps to begin a new collection for Valentine projects. I bought some of her collection that were on sale - super bonus - and they will be a smart in...

Pacific Coast Trail Wedding Card for Julia and Brian

Hello, hello! Special hello to Julia and Brian, Cassandra and Alex, 'Carol with an e' and Jody,  - hi guys and gals. Its a very wintery day - there's a ton of snow just on my patio alone - definitely a snowboots kinda day! So what better way to show off this card I made because its a) wedding card and what better theme to combat the winter  and b) its inspired by the Pacific Coast Trail which I am pretty sure looks just grand and a beautiful contrast to our drab view! Of course, its main inspiration is the blessed union of two special young souls, Julia and Brian !! Julia I have known for a long time as our families were once neighbours on a lovely tree-lined street.  And our children became childhood friends!  Together with her lively sister Cassandra, and my daughterAlex, they played in the trees, on the grass and at the zoo...until those activities transformed into meeting ' for lunch' as they have all grown up on us.  I keep in touch with the...

Father's Day Card - #1 Sheriff in Town!

Lasso up a card for this coming FATHER'S DAY! Hey guys and gals who need to conjure up the perfect card for that special 'DUDE' - rootin' tootin' fan of the old westerns - fan of John Wayne?  Or the new cowboys of the rodeo today? Well - if you just want to let DAD know he's #1 - this card ought to do that! I was thinking of how to represent the ol west when I didn't have any cowboy stamps per se, nothing western at all - zip, nada!  Then I thought that the Sheriff's Badge would be easy enough to make if you broke it down to basic parts - basically, its a circle with pointy triangles, nes pa? So that is what I did! 1) first I cut me a circle with our 1-3/4 inch CIRCLE PUNCH. 2) make them thar pointy parts!           To Make Triangles for the Sheriff's Star Badge          cut a strip of cardstock twich as wide  than the length of your points, and about 6 inches in length          sc...

Make a Card Kit for a Student, Beginner Level.

Hi to all you stampers and crafters! I am feeling perkier!  Still have to take it easy but I did clean up my awfully messy craft table!  Gosh - what a process that is!  Don't you wish the Crafting Clean-Up Fairies (or Elves - equal opportunist here!) would come in the night and do it for us? Well - I did have a fire lit up underneath me to do something for  a nice person, as I only had 1 opportunity to see them before Father's Day.  And to show my appreciation to this person, I decided to do it in a round about way and help their son make his own Father's Day card! So a card kit was born! I threw the supplies all together, and I took the liberty of doing one or two steps for them. They will assemble everything - and I left it so they have some 'choices' in the final design. I created a word document to outline instructions, and printed it off and tucked it in with everything.  Here's is how it looked - the separate elements are there including: a ...
