My Quiet Christmas Crafting Refuge

Hey crafters! I am getting along with my holiday preparations with the end in sight, how about you?  My handmade cards that require mailing are done and all have been posted. So far I have designed each and every card 'on the spot' and while that means it takes that much longer, its a process I enjoy...like tinkering around! Here is a couple of snapshots of my craft zone where you'll find me in the morning.... ...this is my billboard where I keep some tags, a couple of cards as well as some gift cards - all of this is meant to be a sort of 'grab-n-go' spot for anyone who needs a quick gift-related item.   Here is a display on top of my stamp bookcase.  There is my daughter's candles she made in grade 3; the 2nd-hand birdhouse I found and refinished a few years ago; the wreath is from Avon maybe 10 years ago (??) and my beloved angel statue where I've hung the little beaded bell given to me by my darling Mommy Crandall who went to heaven ye...

Paper Garden's Canada Day Card Challenge - Part B Banner

Welcome to Part B of my Paper Garden's Canada Day Card Challenge!  Yay! Please if you like this project, read and follow the links I posted at the end. CANADA DAY BANNER If you read my earlier post, then you will know I created a Canada Day BANNER to go along with my decor and then to take along on my picnic to dress up the picnic table....its a little thing, but a big thing too :) First, my creative process went a little like this:..."hmmm, what else can I do with my maple leaf die that would show off its simple form? "  Ponder, ponder.....pondering, then bingo!   When in doubt, I love to turn to banners!  There is sooooo much you can do with a banner - decorate it willy, nilly,  go quick and simple, elegant, cute....what-ever you like! So I made 3 sections rather quickly by using my Spellbinder's maple leaf die.  I used Paper Garden's Basic Red and Aura Solar White cardstock.  I cut the shapes from the white paper and layered them ov...

Glitter Gradiant Nails are not just for Twenty-somethings!

The festive mood was been in full swing yesterday in our household....having done a few domestic acts , oh, like decorating and baking, we woke up in a slow fuzzy sort-of-way and then within the hour were busting our butts for a full day!  First we were going out with 'the girls', awesome friends, and my daughter had to bring along her party dress to go to her staff Holiday Party, and I was doing more shopping and ending with my stopping in to a local (and very nice) bar to 'cheer-a- beer' while waiting to meet my daughter on her return around midnight!  12 hours of festivity - whew! Sooooooo... moi wanted my outfit to reflect the festive vibe and decided to shock my daughter by doing my "own" NAIL ART!  She does it all the time and is crazy-good at it!!!  But me?  Not so good! But beginning with the very cheap, green nail polish I had just purchased - by Pure Ice called Free Spirit - (its a perfect 'pine' green) and my sparkly Essie white n...

Fathers Day Card

F ATHERS DAY CARD Paper quilting is a favourite trick for card-making.  A Top Note die-cut was covered with  scrap papers, then layered  on to Kiwi Kiss cardstock which was cut leaving a small border. The Top Note shape has a point and would be troublesome to stand on its own, and so I would make an 'easel'.  So I created a large 'A ' with a supporting leg behind it, and added a shelf. {double-thickness plus glued a thin wood stir stick for added support}  DAD stamped assemblage secured by a clip in place and topped with a tin star!  Hope you like it! Stamp CLub and Easter Boxes and FUN!

Time's over for March Stamp Club and this month we had the "girlz" doing their thing - having fun ! We were busy getting ready for Easter by making some very pretty Easter boxes! During class, the girls were introduced to the Crop-A-Dile ....and judging from the photo, it was only a matter of lining up the oversized eyelet and presto, they all did a fabulous job of it! In fact, they did better than I did - watching younger people do something in half the time is a real reminder that thankfully I have "experience" on my side, lol! They also 'delved' right into the candy-bags they made with the YUM M Y stamp set and Top Note Die {Sizzix Big Shot} -- as we always do a 3rd 'mystery project' - usually something short and "sweet" , ha ha....so true in this case! I wonder if those even made it home! You can see at the end of the class, everyone loads up with their little prizes, and the beautiful boxes they made. No one had any experience ...
