Create your own Gift Bag Tag or Topper!


Carouse through the gift wrap aisle of a Hallmark store and see the gift tag 'toppers' - you know the decorative tags that just stick on the front of a bag or on a wrapped parcel?  They are more for " decoration " than for tags.
Anyways....they were all cute in one way or another, but I was thinking, for that price - we sooooo could to-ta-lly do ones ourselves!!!!

So there I am last night - looking at the last of my ICE CREAM PARLOR paper [see SU!'s 2011 Sale-A-Bration].
  1. I had paper - I had buttons - I had ribbon. All co-ordinating, hmmmm....then it struck me to use my  Ornament Punch to create a vase...
  2. use my buttons as flowers...
  3. and use the ribbon as a gift bag handle!!!           
 I was done in no time! [well, okay, 30 mins!]           

Ta da!  I give you my GIFT TAG/TOPPER!  


It's a little gift bag itself, ha ha!  Ain't it cute!

Here is what I did:
  •  Cut 2 squares of pretty paper in the size you like. 
  •  Embellish the corners with scraps of co-ordinating papers.  
  •  Use the ORNAMENT PUNCH {and co-ordinating paper}. TRIM OFF THE POINT and instant vase! 
  • Attach the vase to the front square and plan out your button flowers. 
  •  Use a piercer to create holes and stitch with floss to create ' stems '. An optional method would be to 'draw' stitched stems using a marker.  
  •  attach flower buttons above stems securely with a knot.
  •  attach a length of ribbon to act as a handle inside the back square, then attach squares around the sides and bottom.
  • Using a decorative border punch, create a border and adhere to the top edges front and back.
  •  Sandwiched some tissue paper in the bag. 
  •  Leave the back side blank for writing a message or to attach to a real gift bag.


AND THAT'S IT!  
Mine is going on my ' TAG TREE' for now.... this really is a fun and quick project .

That is exactly what I had with this tag.....amongst all the oodles of cards I am making for a craft fair coming up, I am taking breaks by making projects that use all kinds of different elements.  Sort of like a cardstock 'stew', lol.                                                          Cute  Gift Tag or Notecard TAG BASE  1. Beautiful Birthday Card from my Daughter

I was ' speechless ' on my birthday when my daughter presented me with her own hand-made card for me! Reason is that when we got up that morning we were in each other's company and yet somehow she managed to sneak off into my craft room and pull this together without me knowing it - - I was totally caught off guard, lol -- and loved it!!! She has always impressed me with her creativity because she doesn't do hand-craft items very often - she is more of an 'online creator' - I have her to thank for all my web banners and general blog technical help :) I was happy to see the cute butterfly resting on the branch, that is something I would not of thought of! Easter "Scallop Circle" Chick Card

Isn't this the cutest!  The second I laid eyes on the card which inspired me - I was OMG !  So I had to do one! IT'S A  EASY - QUICK 5 MIN. PROJECT!  GREAT KIDS PROJECT!  We made ours  after having breakfast  and  in no time flat! Technique: You can see from the pictures that you must fold your cardstock at the 5-1/2 mark, and CUT the Scallop Circle LEAVING A SMALL PART OF THE FOLD OVERHANGING THE CIRCLE OUTLINE - that is how you make a card - and not 2 Scallop Circles. A small scallop punch is cut into wedges - those make up the wings. Punch your other parts, fold the square on the diagonal for its beak, then glue everything on. We highlighted the eyes and beak - voila!
