Stampin' Up!'s fantastic Season of Friendship

Hey everyone!

Today my friend Hilton dropped by with something I needed to borrow and it reminded me today how to be grateful for friends!  Hilton has been like a surrogate grandfather to my daughter ever since she was knee-high to a grasshopper, and he has been selflessly doing wonderful things for us - and we hope we are doing lovely things back.

And being reminded of this simple fact, that friends - true friends - are a blessing, today I am showing a card I made last month. I made it along with a young girl actually, and hers came out just terrific. So its a simple card but the trick is to make it look more sophisticated than it really is - if you want to really impress someone (wink)!

The trick I like to use?  Just one of many, here it was cutting out small bits and layering them on top - like the tiny bird and flowers. It also helps to frame the "greeting" and give it a place of importance.

I knew this card would be multi-coloured because of the 4 seasons represented - so I kept the background colours down to 2 - IN COLORs Soft Suede and Bermuda Bay. And we stamped on the perpetual favourite, Whisper White! :)

I think this would be a super card to give someone!  Imagine how'd they feel unfolding this card from the envelope!  Give it a try!

Beautiful Birthday Card from my Daughter

I was ' speechless ' on my birthday when my daughter presented me with her own hand-made card for me! Reason is that when we got up that morning we were in each other's company and yet somehow she managed to sneak off into my craft room and pull this together without me knowing it - - I was totally caught off guard, lol -- and loved it!!! She has always impressed me with her creativity because she doesn't do hand-craft items very often - she is more of an 'online creator' - I have her to thank for all my web banners and general blog technical help :) I was happy to see the cute butterfly resting on the branch, that is something I would not of thought of! Anyways, it was a lovely gesture and a thoughtful card. Beverly SUPPLIES LIST  Stampin' Up!   Eastern Bloom and Kindred Spirit stamp sets. Bella Rose  Designer Paper Pink Pirouette cardstock.

YNS Challenge #3 YNSC3

Hi folks, Having fun this week playing with my fav summer theme of sea creatures!  And to justify it even more, I am playing along with YOUR NEXT STAMP's CHALLENGE #3 "Anything Goes"!   You can see their challenge details HERE ! Deadline is Weds. midnight. I already was toying with ideas involving 3D projects lately and wanted to do something within a frame, and so I put two'n'two together and here is my entry....my " Mermaids Playing in the Sun Shadow Box ". The frame was one I had for awhile, maybe two years?  And my stamps from Your Next Stamp are the adorable mermaid set, Happy Birthday Mermaid which I acquired about two years ago also! Coincidence - I think not! LOL! Later I plan to embellish this even more once I find my darn box of tiny shells!  Maybe some charms? Heck who knows! :) I am going to write up a more detailed post about creating this by the week-end, so return here if you care for that.  Tomorrow I am going to be trainin

Fun with Tags!

That is exactly what I had with this tag.....amongst all the oodles of cards I am making for a craft fair coming up, I am taking breaks by making projects that use all kinds of different elements.  Sort of like a cardstock 'stew', lol.                                                          Cute  Gift Tag or Notecard TAG BASE  1. First, I started with a small piece of cardstock of 3 x 6 inches, folded to create a square 3 x 3 inch tag. 2.  I layered a BAJA BREEZE cardstock square on top of the tag - I used my SCALLOP TRIM CORNER PUNCH to create the pretty corners! 3. To rev it up a bit, I glittered the bottom of the tag with some of Dazzling Diamonds. TAG DECORATION 4. I stamped  my lil' WALRUS  on a punched out '1-3/4 in.' Circle  of Whisper White cardstock  - then while I "masked" him, I stamped the background with a snowflake stamp from JOLLY OLD ST NICK set. 5. Next I placed the stamped circle onto a larger green circle, and and trans
