Assembled Snowman Wall Hanging

Hey - back with my crazy project I mentioned!  Its a small canvas that I recycled {former life: an Easter bunny painting}into a colourful holiday decoration which now hangs in our bathroom!  We have a really bright bathroom in a turquoise and white colour scheme, so I thought an upbeat decoration could go in there to perk us up first thing in the morning, right? I slapped a very bright pink patterned paper over the canvas, and then had a ton of fun trying to stick a plastic mesh over top of that - I liked the mesh because it would add texture, and it is a bright sparkly white which is pretty. But it was dreadful trying to get it to stick down,...I managed with jots of sticky tape and a final brad to make double sure it stays in place. Where ever the sticky tape showed through the wide weave of the mesh, I sprinkled glitter, so it looks just fine. Next, I used my Big Shot and dies to assembled one of my Tim Holtz "ASSEMBLED SNOWMAN" and cut a sparkly turquoise Fleur-de-lis...

Cheery Lynn Seahorse Summer Card

Hey crafters - hope you enjoyed your week-end! We are having a super hot summer day today. Ok, my " summer season " collection of tools and supplies has grown again!  Every year its my tradition to buy a punch or die  with an ocean theme. I even buy the occasional stamp with the same purpose in mind, but I do tend to buy punches and dies more.  I love those two tools - and if there is a matching stamp set, I'm "swimmingly" thrilled, lol! The summer is for our fun colours, but this year I gave myself a challenge- well, two challenges. ..1) buy a die that was really over the top ' seaside' and 2) use a sleek gold card base as my starting point.  The first was made easy when I saw CHEERY LYNN's Seahorse Family Die which I purchase as fast as I could from Scrapbooking Online Cafe . The second challenge was merely because of a personal challenge - how could I use a non-traditional colour for an ocean theme?  I usually delve into my bluesy, gree...

Farewell to our Minister Card

As we close the doors on our church next Sunday, many of us will bid each other a sentimental good-bye. Farewell cards for several key figures in our church were needed, and I opted to help with the one for our minister, Rev. Ellen Redcliffe.    From experience, I reckoned that the card should have multiple pages to accommodate the many signatures of the congregation, and this one has: a front, a sentiment page, a photo page and then 6 pages for signatures - hope that does it!   Here then are several photos of many but not all the features of this card {tempted to call it a booklet!}  All in all, there is 20 man-hours into this project - a good portion of that is making decisions!  Hope you can tell that I put my heart into this one - enjoy!

YNS Challenge #3 YNSC3

Hi folks, Having fun this week playing with my fav summer theme of sea creatures!  And to justify it even more, I am playing along with YOUR NEXT STAMP's CHALLENGE #3 "Anything Goes"!   You can see their challenge details HERE ! Deadline is Weds. midnight. I already was toying with ideas involving 3D projects lately and wanted to do something within a frame, and so I put two'n'two together and here is my entry....my " Mermaids Playing in the Sun Shadow Box ". The frame was one I had for awhile, maybe two years?  And my stamps from Your Next Stamp are the adorable mermaid set, Happy Birthday Mermaid which I acquired about two years ago also! Coincidence - I think not! LOL! Later I plan to embellish this even more once I find my darn box of tiny shells!  Maybe some charms? Heck who knows! :) I am going to write up a more detailed post about creating this by the week-end, so return here if you care for that.  Tomorrow I am going to be trainin...

Gift Wrapping - Make it Special for Mom!

Hello stamping friends! Here I am with a special friend who I've helped by gift wrapping his Mother's Day gift, and now he has  a one-of-a-kind present for sure! This is exactly the reason I feel we stampers do this hobby/small business for - to provide happiness!  For sure! winning smile! Details Step 1 - Hand-made 3D Flowers I have used the Big Shot and our Island Floral Bigz Die to die-cut 9 flower shapes, the 5-petal version. Then during a coffee session, I manipulated and glued into them into three 3-D flowers. What a fun way to spend some down-time! I will link a tutorial for making the flowers shortly. Step 2 - Create Floral Gift Topper Then I added another Sizzix Bigz Die for the  Vine and Leaves which were cut from our pretty PEAR PIZZAZ Cardstock - one of our IN COLORS for this year!  I added dimension to them by sponging some Old Olive   Ink.   Attach flowers to vine, embellish with gems and bits of easter floss and tulle. B...

When "Home-made" is better! Use Punch Art for Class Presentations!

Today's hot word is HOMEMADE .... CAN YOU TELL WHICH IS THE REAL PIZZA? LOL! I personally think this is picture shows works of art - truly Renaissance worthy! But that is because - moi - made these, lol!  And I am not being too humble, am I? But, honestly, my "real" homemade pizza was the best - I love making homemade pizzas because I love, love the thick, puffy crust!  Plus - I can make it tailor-made to our preferableness (yes, that IS a word!)....and fresh ingrediants, mmm-hmmm! The usual around here is FRIDAY NIGHT PIZZA - and a Movie!  And I just overheard an adorable, little guy asking his Mom in the grocery store whether they could make Fridays, movie night!  So I helped him out, and said "Pardon me, but we have Friday night movies too! With pizza! It's really fun!"   So hopefully, the little guy gets his way...but I am thinking, its probably Friday Night Pizza in lots of households - practically a North American tradition . Anyways - the fun...

My 'specially-created' SAKURA Flower using the Island Floral Bigz Die and Squash Card!

Yes helloooo to all out in craft-cyber world! I feel really accomplished this week!  I have finished a set of gift bags for a baby shower AND a nice card in SQUASH BOOK style - both are ready to fly out the door!!! To decorate the chipboard cover, I created my very own stylized "Sakura Flower" using  Stampin' Up!'s FLORAL ISLAND BIGZ DIE (retired). It's quite the size.   I chose the Sakura flower which is adored on a national level in Japan!  It can also be referred to as the Cherry Blossom Flower. The trees are stunning when in full bloom - and its hard for the eye to take in all the beauty of a grouping of trees, its awesome!   So here it is! Sorry but the camera created a reddish hue!  I love ROSE RED in all its forms (cardstock, ribbon, ink, etc.) and it goes nicely with the GARDEN GREEN cardstock and the softer pink accents.  The patterned paper is part of a 8x8" Cardstock Pad from Stampin' Up! - they come out with a new on...

Storage - Recycle Tin Cans, Boxes

Ahhh, my storage issues continue.   I wish I could go into my craft room and it would magically  extend it's walls each and every time I need more storage, but alas, that is not going to happen. So I dream up my own solutions. I think I have a natural compulsion to cover up things - so the two things go hand in hand, my recycling jars, tins, boxes, etc. and more craft supplies finding their way into my craft room!  I also am not a fan of 'too' matchy-match components, which is why I decorate my craft room trying to balance purchasing items from collections, and found objects like the tin above.  Anyways, I made a rough effort by sanding the edges of the paper I glued to the tins, there are 2 of them, and adding plain twine as an accent - my 'bow'.  I also just cut out the scallop trim from a packaging -it was pretty packaging - so why not!  I recommend using STICKY TAPE for most of this project.  TIP - use an old nail file to sand the tin (just a...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ONE PAGE BINDING MINI ALBUM for a FRIEND, SOFIA!

H A P P Y B IR T H D A Y S O F I A  ! I made this " One 12x12 Page Binding Mini-Album " for my online friend, Sofia and I had no idea till after I sent it - that it is her birthday today!  Whooo-hooo!  Hope you had a great day girl! [Sofia does crafts and gives lots 'n' lots of people a lot of nice gestures & gifts - she's a very generous soul! Glad we are pals, Sofia!] Its a pretty cool project and like the title, you use a complete page of 12 x 12 cardstock, which when folded creates a 'fat' mini-album which counts as a 'page' because you can bind several together with the clever end section! You can find the instructions FREE as I did, on YouTube from the fabulous Elsa   ( Hi Elsa! ) on her tubes, under JustafewDesgins  - scroll down to bottom of this post for the link to her tutorial for this project! Not only is this an cool project, there is a ton of ways to decorate it and incorporate tags, photo's, etc.  And all from the ...
