January Birthday Card feat DIY Ribbon Candle

Hey crafters! Winter is certainly upon us here in Canada now after having a non-white Christmas season! Today being a pretty cold, cold day and yet - its a bit better than Weds was - lordy that was cold!!! For all you out there - please help our urban wildlife, toss them some food if you can!  And provide helpful guidance to any ill-informed or naive pet owner to not leave their pets outside - if its too cold for  us, its too cold for them! OK - a change in colour is one of my priorities in January - BAM -  right away I put away all the past Holiday decorations and start bringing out whites plus some cheery colour!  Its sort of a minor catharsis I think, to purge out the emotional remnants of participating through Thanksgiving to New Year's celebrations. I know women play out the bulk of the preparations for this often leading to a huge release when its all over. Clear the decks! So right away this year, we had a birthday to consider and blue and orange seeme...

Multi-Border Valentine Card with DIY RIbbon Rosette

Here's a pretty project....I created this using a few different punches and one Spellbinder's border die.  The only hard part is choosing your papers....understandable if you have a billion (ahem) sheets of untouched designer series cardstock!  But I did it by narrowing down a few sheets that seemed to go together and I have a real fondness for kraft and pink combination, so maybe it wasn't that hard, lol. Multiple Borders created with punches, die. Handmade ribbon rosette.   Its pretty self-explanatory, and perhaps the only real note is that I created a ribbon rosette by threading a ' wave ' pattern onto a strip of ribbon and pulled the threads so it curled up on itself.  Attach the two ends and voila - you have a rosette!  I finally got to use a brad too that has been in my collection for- evah !!! I hated to finally delve into a red pleated ribbon roll .....maybe I should titled this post - " using up your supplies"!  handmade ribbon roset...

Rue Des Fleurs Valentine Card

Happy Valentine's Day! Today I am posting a Valentine Card I sent to my good friend, Maria. Maria and I are both kindred spirits in that a) we love making cards and crafting, and b) we used to be on the same SU Inks Team. Nowadays, we exchange cards and naturally Valentine's Day is a great day for card lovers!  I hope lots and lots of young and old couples, friends and family members and professionals, students - everyone receives or gives a Valentines to someone special today !!!  And as always, if YOU know someone who could use a nice surprise - give them one with a kind gesture in the form of a little something you made.  It could make their week! OK - here it is.....featuring Stampin' Up!'s RUE DES FLEURS Stamp Set.  I know I got this back nearly a year ago {really?}...but I was kinda waiting for a special day, so I used it - hurray!   I also used a new embossing folder I picked up last week, Cuttlebug's PINKING STITCH. I really love it! My l...

YNS Challenge #5 Colour Trio

Another fun challenge over at Your Next Stamp's Blog ....and I made a very simple card for my entry!  More simple than my normal choice but I have tons going on right now, so this was a quickie for me! But I just received two teeny-weeny stamps from YNS last week....and I am anticipating getting a jar die  soon and thought these little Fiona stamps would look adorable stamped 'inside' the jars - so I am using one of them for today's card. The challenge asks for a colour trio of lime green, pink and teal.   My card is just a simple one that I cut in a different way other than normal and added a pink pocket containing a blank tag which could be used for a gift tag or a bookmark perhaps. My embellishments are a mix of ribbons....and that's it! My pictures are a little darker than in real life as I took them tonight - sometimes I wish I was  a much better photographer, sigh!   The little gal is MINI DAY DREAM FHIONA Thanks for stopping b...
