Shabby Chic Cookie Cutter Card

Hey everyone!   Today I am blogging about the card I made in the middle of the night, lol.  It started with the idea that I wanted to use the bear from Stampin' Up!'s Cookie Cutter bundle set {stamp and punch}.  My intended recipient loves bears and I was dying to do a shabby chic style card, so voila!  Some details: I dyed a piece of white satin ribbon using ink. Ink refills {liquids} are so helpful to create co-ordinating materials for your projects. Soft sponging of paler colours help to frame your main more colourful image. Add more details by layering accents such as my poinsettias and label.   Here is one of the  embossing powders from the Stampendous Fran-tage line called ' Shabby White '. See how bubbly and glittery it is?   There it is - I love doing soft colours paired with white for pretty styled christmas cards!!!  Hope everyone is having a safe and enjoyable holiday season this year, cheers!

Merry Christmas Cards by Sizzix

Here's the reason why I purchased this card die set so that I could make a batch of cards without too much fuss! With the words Merry Christmas blazing across the front - what could be easier?  You could make all the same style or customize each one as I chose to. I think I will purchase those adhesive sheets to cut the detailed words because it takes a bit of effort to glue it in place using regular adhesives, but it is still a nice way to cut through your card list!  One morning I took time to create my embellishments using a variety of little accent pieces and with the aid of my glue gun. Using a glue gun makes quick work of attaching foil-to-foil, foil-to-fabric or other hard to glue materials.  Give it a try!  Die set:Merry Christmas Drop-Ins, 662255 a framelits set by Stephanie Barnard for Sizzix Embellishments from the Dollarama

A Twist and Pop Card for those special times!

Boy, another NEW YEAR has arrived!  I paused to think where are the robots around the house, and my flying car?   Not yet I'm afraid, my awesome futuristic life is still around the bend.....but hey, I'll wait some more, lol.  And it looks as if I may have to still exercise....no fancy solution there either. Sigh.  [actually I love my stretching routines....and at this time of year, do you notice the shift in the morning light-- the most fantastic sun shiny mornings. really its lovely]. SO!  I am still going to post some of my christmas cards  - and do you know why?  Because I didn't finish posting some of them, but I promised myself that I would do more holiday cards in preparation for next year, and darn, I'm gonna do that!  How about you - any similar plans? Here is the most complicated card(s) I did this 2016.....following the Twist and Pop Card Technique   as I learned it watching Collette Mitrega's youtube demo. (click on link to vie...

Quick Christmas Card using convenient Black Chalkboard cards

This is a quick card I made featuring the following budget-friendly  supplies: - Forever in Time ready-made Black Chalkboard Cards (sold with white envelopes); - Jillibean Soup Ornament Shaker Clear Stamp Set - very   budget-friendly and 9 pcs!; - Avery Elle   Happy Howl-idays Clear Stamp Set  ; - Avery Elle Happy Howl-days Die; - DoCraft    Mistletoe Die. The ornament stamp is part of Jillibean Soup's Shape Shaker Program - a series of stamps, dies and inserts to create shaker cards naturally!  But I simply wanted a 'window-style' card to show off my dog stamp. I decided to try out the new chalkboard folded cards I had bought on a whim and my mind was set on trying to create a modern style card that a young professional would like. My daughter could then use it to give to anyone of her co-workers!  I think I did well :) I am not that great at colouring with alcohol markers like the copic markers yet ,  but I'll get the...

Holiday Cards using your stash!

Happy Holidays !!!   How are you doing in your holiday count-down?  Good I hope :) My style of creating cards evolves over a period of weeks as I prioritize according to: distance to mail and who'll we will be seeing first; along with how labour-intensive the cards are. Meanwhile there are the local community good-will cards - these are simple designs so I can crank them out as I move along and give them out leisurely.    Each year I lovingly lay out my crafting space...new supplies all lay waiting to make my annual DIY holiday cards - something I like to do first thing in the morning with my first coffee - before the dog wakes up, lol.  Generally I plot out a plan for designs beginning early - think August! And it never goes to plan. This time, while digging around in my supply closet I discovered a box of left-over bits from years ago , and I thought " Holy Hannah! I've GOT to use these supplies up! "   So today's topic is ' Using Yo...

Holiday Card for Dog Lovers

Heh ho, Happy New Year! I have a one more holiday card project I didn't post earlier and would like to before I forget :) This card was made for a young Rescue Dog Foster Parent who selflessly works to provide loving care to dogs waiting to be adopted.  Her name is Phillipa - hi Phillipa if you're reading this - and early in 2014 she was the Foster Parent to our little Maggie and has and is helping other dogs. Phillipa also has a career, and so you can imagine what a blessing it is that people like Phillipa are willing to help when we desperately need help for rescued animals - kudos to her !!! So I thought this was a cute card to make her this holiday, because Phillipa is also in to providing home-cooked meals for the dogs and I could just imagine her baking them dog treats! The stamp sets are:  Ellie Loves to Bake  by Y our N ext S tamp and A Cute Christmas by Stampin' Up!(discontinued).  Coloured with Copic markers and a Prism pencil (turquoise) on 100 l...

Winter Wreath 'n' Roses Easel Fold Holiday Card

Whew what a long title! Sometimes its hard to put an aptly named title together for a project or my talent at this is minimal, but what IS important is that we share right? Right! And today I'd like to share this idea for a card with you because I think its a terrifically fun design that you could use again and again and get a "wow" reaction every time! And believe it or not, it folds into a 5 x 7 in. envelope {hurray!}...which is good for postal rates :) INSTRUCTIONS I followed the following instructions for cutting and folding.... Create the card body : CUT         6 x 11- 3/4 in     cardstock {minimum 80lb cardstock to support weight} SCORE   3- 1/4 ; 5 ; 6- 3/4 ; and 8- 1/2 inch marks FOLD     valley; mountain; mountain; valley  respectively  [creates a central panel which sticks out] Decorate each of the two flanking back panels with co-ordinating patterened paper and the central panel. [ I used ...

Window and Shaker Cards featuring Spellbinders and Ornaments4christmas

The following project was inspired by Jennifer McGuire's card Love Joy Peace . It's a window card and I haven't done one of these in ages!!!  So I promptly started rummaging through the house looking for clear acetate....and couldn't find any, awww.  But for one card I created a cellophane wrap "baggie" and for the other, I used a square cut from some clear packaging I had in the recycle bin. Voila! I decided to make a fall and a christmas card as experiments. Both cards have a white heavy cardstock bases ( folded 8 1/2 x 5 1/2) and a panel of decorative paper cut to 2 1/8 x 5 1/2 and attached to the left half of the card front. * To extend the paper around to the back of the card, cut it at 3 1/8 x 5 1/2.  [see end photo of Fall card].  This causes a straight division down the front and where I " centered " my dies to cut the window.  I decided to cut the windows after I attached the decorative panel to one half of the card front - thi...

Tim Holtz Assembled Snowman

Here is a bright young thing - having fun with my latest and greatest die, Tim's ASSEMBLED SNOWMAN! This is such a fun die - I love the whole ability to pick and choose the colours and I know that is true of any die, but its just more fun when your creating a snowman!! I want bright - bright - bright this year!  I have had years of traditional colours and beautiful prints, but I never really had those candy-coloured materials for my Xmas projects. Jumbo Poinsettia Card

Greetings Everybody!!!   Gosh I can't believe how long its been since I've posted anything - at all!!!  But I am having a nice Sunday morning - sunshine is out, its bit chilly here in Toronto but no snow, so that's okay with me, he he.  Anyone with snow knows that the routine of getting out the door is tedious when its "put on coat, button/zip, wrap the scarf, throw on the hat, bend down to gather the boots on, mitts, grab your bag-pet-significant other.....its like that several times a day, SO you can imagine how we feel when there is no snow on the ground - yet! Of course, we all want it on Dec 24 and 25th, lol. Then we want it!!!   Not sure if we will have it this year, looking a little too warm-ish. But there has been more than one year when it literally snows on Christmas eve - but you just can't tell, its one day at a time around here. OK - yap-yap-yap........let's get on with Christmas CARDS yeah! Here is one of the earliest I had to mail - all the...

Christmas Kiss - Penny Black

Wow I looooooooooove this stamp!  Its really pretty and its been my challenge this season because I am not used to colouring stamps this large!!!  Gasp - turns out all those Copic lessons are true, you DO need to know how to blend, lol. But I did pretty good because instead of trying to be what I am not {a copic/marker colourist extroidinare} - I did what I do-do best and that is just wing it!  Hee hee!  And I heard about 'frantage' so I now have another new interest - that is what is great this year, I actually have been learning or rather exploring new things - yeah for me! SO enough chat - here is the stamp above: AND here are my efforts - I really enjoyed being set loose with the embellishments! I painted this green one using watercolour pencils after I stamped and embossed the image with White Embossing Powder.  So it looks wildly bright - but I went with the whimsical nature of it all and I think its rather "artsy"!  ...
