*click on photos for close-up views Welcome everyone to my blog!   As part of the Paper-Garden's 2018 Mother's Day Cards Challenge I have created a card using Paper-Garden's beautiful cardstock  and a few of my favourite dies and techniques.  To see how you can help determine the winners for the challenge, see below.  close-up  Choosing beautiful colours to celebrate Mother's Day was fairly  easy as I always love the combo of pink, green and white!   To make it more fabulous, Paper-Garden's soft shimmering cardstock  really adds that lovely quality you'd want in a card for your Mom!  Look for their Curious Metallics cardstock. Welcome to Part B of my Paper Garden's Canada Day Card Challenge!  Yay! Please if you like this project, read and follow the links I posted at the end. CANADA DAY BANNER If you read my earlier post, then you will know I created a Canada Day BANNER to go along with my decor and then to take along on my picnic to dress up the picnic table....its a little thing, but a big thing too :) First, my creative process went a little like this:..."hmmm, what else can I do with my maple leaf die that would show off its simple form? "  Ponder, ponder.....pondering, then bingo!   When in doubt, I love to turn to banners!  There is sooooo much you can do with a banner - decorate it willy, nilly,  go quick and simple, elegant, cute....what-ever you like! Hello Everyone!!  Canada is turning a glorious 148  years old - still a baby!!! And our flag as it looks now, is 50! I hope you have decided to celebrate in your own way on July 1rst ....I'm hearing plans kicking around to do BBQ's, fireworks, getting away...to just kicking back a bit.  If my day goes as planned, we'll picnic. Hey crafters! Winter is certainly upon us here in Canada now after having a non-white Christmas season! Today being a pretty cold, cold day and yet - its a bit better than Weds was - lordy that was cold!!! For all you out there - please help our urban wildlife, toss them some food if you can!  And provide helpful guidance to any ill-informed or naive pet owner to not leave their pets outside - if its too cold for  us, its too cold for them! OK - a change in colour is one of my priorities in January - BAM -  right away I put away all the past Holiday decorations and start bringing out whites plus some cheery colour!  Its sort of a minor catharsis I think, to purge out the emotional remnants of participating through Thanksgiving to New Year's celebrations. I know women play out the bulk of the preparations for this often leading to a huge release when its all over. Clear the decks! So right away this year, we had a birthday to consider and blue and orange seeme...

While shopping on our annual Christmas Church Fair Day - our beloved tradition of visiting local church's holiday craft fairs to find great handmade gifts during November, we found this great DOG BISCUIT WREATH and fell in love with it! So we bought it for a neighbour's pooch Lucy, a friend to our beloved dog Maggie! It was wrapped wonderfully, but no tag.  So when I found Impression Obsessions Challenge Quick Holiday Gifts  I decided to add a tag to the wreath and enter the challenge as well.  [click on link to take you to Impression Obsessions blog] It took minutes to make a quick tag using the Large Snowflake Die and a simple scalloped circle and a wee bit of twine. I left the snowflake diecut mainly intact for a bold look. The small snowflake I did remove (from the center), I used on the back of the tag. Easy peasy :) I added tiny red gems to the interior of the snowflake as the wreath's wrapping has a pretty elaborate ribbon but I adjust...

Need some fun?   Sure you do! Well, I found a way to create some spark this morning by giving myself a challenge!  Just a private me-vs-me moment I guess, lol. Anyways, I imposed a challenge to create a card in 5 mins and using no scissors!   I whipped this together by folding and ripping my scraps, and I had a previously punched strip of pink cardstock {so maybe that's a wee cheat - I don't know???}....and before you know it, I was done! I liked it so much, tomorrow I'll probably think of a new way to challenge myself, give it a go yourself - sometimes we just need a bit of a push, right? Cheers! My next "Spring" card is featuring joyful cheery colours!   I started with an interest in repeating a design in a rainbow of colours which is how I made the background for this card using the   circle-encased flower stamp from BASIC GREY'S ECO-NOTES. Your Next Stamp’s  MINI FLOWER FHIONA  was fun to colour!  I am using white cardstock I purchased from Flourishes Inc. as it is a great choice for colouring with Copic markers.  After colouring Fhiona, I cut her out with Spellbinders  BIG SCALLOPED SQUARES and cut a slightly larger red square to layer behind her. Finally, I couldn’t resist a cheery red button with 2 leaves – must have been thinking about apples – or maybe a cherry?  Once again, I mounted everything on a crisp, white card base! The card measures 4.5 x 5 inches so I’d need to make my own envelope {if I decide to mail it} – but for me, envelopes are just a side note, I LOVE designing cards with...

Another of  my SUMMER cards where I chosen a sea/ocean theme!  I love-love-love doing these kinds of projects at this time of year....which is why I buy stamps and equipment to equip me to make them and I buy the supplies from all over, no particular favorites. Here I have used a 'Your Next Stamp' stamp set - Happy Birthday Mermaid' paired with a simplier stamp set of sea creatures {the starfish, fish and seahorse} and even a foam leaf stamp for the background.  I also have entered this for COLOR THROWDOWN  whose celebrating their 200th Challenge - so, CT200 naturally!  The colours chosen were: Pink Passion Certainly Celery Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Pie Tempting Turquoise  I have used all of the above colours in one way or another on my card.  Certainly Celery is on the Mermaids's fins but also is sponged around the card's edges and overtop of the Turquoise water! Another fun challenge over at Your Next Stamp's Blog ....and I made a very simple card for my entry!  More simple than my normal choice but I have tons going on right now, so this was a quickie for me! But I just received two teeny-weeny stamps from YNS last week....and I am anticipating getting a jar die  soon and thought these little Fiona stamps would look adorable stamped 'inside' the jars - so I am using one of them for today's card. The challenge asks for a colour trio of lime green, pink and teal.   My card is just a simple one that I cut in a different way other than normal and added a pink pocket containing a blank tag which could be used for a gift tag or a bookmark perhaps. My embellishments are a mix of ribbons....and that's it! Hi folks, Having fun this week playing with my fav summer theme of sea creatures!  And to justify it even more, I am playing along with YOUR NEXT STAMP's CHALLENGE #3 "Anything Goes"!   You can see their challenge details HERE ! Deadline is Weds. midnight. I already was toying with ideas involving 3D projects lately and wanted to do something within a frame, and so I put two'n'two together and here is my entry....my " Mermaids Playing in the Sun Shadow Box ". The frame was one I had for awhile, maybe two years?  And my stamps from Your Next Stamp are the adorable mermaid set, Happy Birthday Mermaid which I acquired about two years ago also! Coincidence - I think not! LOL! Later I plan to embellish this even more once I find my darn box of tiny shells!  Maybe some charms? CS25H Inside Greeting ' Happy Easter ' Hello, today I am entering a challenge!  I have not entered one here before, but over at Creative-Sketches  there is a challenge today called CS25H Holidays and Celebrations and I have chosen to make an Easter Card for a friend! To do this, I have chosen my INSPIRED BY NATURE stamp - using the floral image (it's a double-mounted stamp - opposite side has grass!) because it feels like Spring to me and I wanted my card to not be over-the-top Easter, but something more simplier and relaxed. I have made the focal piece using our SCALLOP CIRCLE Bigz Die (the scallop red circle) and then layered it with Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White cardstock, followed naturally,  nestled in the center,  my stamped image! My ribbon is a thin strip of paper cardstock (Whisper White )  run through our Crimper tool, and sponged ever-so-gently with PEACH PARFAIT ink. Hey everyone! I am deep into my crafting this morning as I had a swap project to finish, and once I was done that, I was still feelin' crafty.  I took a look at some challenges posted 'round the net and found Tuesday Trigger.  The challenge "Sweets for the Sweet" suits me!  It's soft colours of Pink are some of my favs. So using the same stamp I merely switched to a different project and ended up with my own CHIPBOARD HEART!   I really like it! This is the front, see - its the same pretty heart from the Stampin' Up! "Love You Much" stamp set.  It has been created in several stages using the stamp, chalks, vellum, cardstock, white embossing powder and chipboard of course!  It may be hard to tell from this angle, but it is fairly thick chipboard and  I still need to decide what I plan to use it for.......I guess that will be another post for another day!
