Rue Des Fleurs Valentine Card

Happy Valentine's Day! Today I am posting a Valentine Card I sent to my good friend, Maria. Maria and I are both kindred spirits in that a) we love making cards and crafting, and b) we used to be on the same SU Inks Team. Nowadays, we exchange cards and naturally Valentine's Day is a great day for card lovers!  I hope lots and lots of young and old couples, friends and family members and professionals, students - everyone receives or gives a Valentines to someone special today !!!  And as always, if YOU know someone who could use a nice surprise - give them one with a kind gesture in the form of a little something you made.  It could make their week! OK - here it is.....featuring Stampin' Up!'s RUE DES FLEURS Stamp Set.  I know I got this back nearly a year ago {really?}...but I was kinda waiting for a special day, so I used it - hurray!   I also used a new embossing folder I picked up last week, Cuttlebug's PINKING STITCH. I really love it! My l...

Tim Horton's Coffee Cup Birthday Card

Hello Crafty mates!   My project today is something for my ' Coffee Mates ' . Take a look at the card below....its part of a gift package for my pal Maria who  also happens to be a coffee mate of mine!  You might not guess from the photo, but this card is really a re-incarnated TIM HORTONS COFFEE CUP! And appropriately, a stir stick is starring as the greeting! Now I did not come up with this idea myself but saw it online when I  googled something, and I thought "how fun!" So naturally, I wanted to do one!  Here is how I did it..... UPCYCLED COFFEE CUP TUTORIAL Basically, grab a clean take-out coffee cup from your fav coffee cafe.   I am working with a Medium Tim Horton's cup.  I found it had enough height to add my focal decoration.  I have seen the cards using the ' Large ' coffee cups though - so choose one that you like. Prepare the Coffee Cup. a)"Open the cup" by cutting ...

Last of Christmas 2012 CARDS and My Christmas HAUL !

Since I was either going crazy doing holiday things, or nursing my daughter who caught 3 chest colds during Fall through December, I didn't finish up my Christmas posting - so I'll do it now, why not! HANDMADE CARDS FROM FRIENDS...... Here is my assortment of " handmade " Christmas cards that I received....awesome!  The one with the snowflake is from Dee all the way from Australia!  The others are from {left to right}...Jane; Maria; Dee and Tammy.  I treasure each and every one - because its nice to receive as well as give, am I right? :)   So I do keep all my cards - there is several boxes full of them from over the years. So I've tucked these all safely away...... MY CHRISTMAS HAUL.... One word - SNOWFLAKES.  I tried to up my punch and die capability with the proverbial " snowflake ".  Its really falls into the 'must-have' list of a paper-crafter's toolbox doesn't it?  It so happened that as my demonstrator days with Stampin...

Back & White! Toronto is deluged with Snow!

Hello, hello and hello!  I'm back!  And its really, really WHITE outside, ha ha...really white!  I was MIA because I came down with some super-duper bug that knocked the beejeebies out of me for nearly all of January! It was one of those you get only once in awhile - thank God - and you can't do anything but moan 'n' groan around the home helplessly watching a multitude of things piling up...and wondering why your family can't seem to do any additional tasks [ahem]- hell! Mom is down!!  Well, that's another discussion, righ? Right. ANYHOO, so I just spent the better part of the last week doing:       a) catching up with business,       b) met up with a lovely girl - Hi Kathy! - who I am grateful to say, I returned her wallet I found,       c) FINALLY getting out of my WIND Mobile account {another hallelujah!},  and then what did I do?...... ....well, went CRAFT SHOPPING - HECK YAH!!!!!! ...

Pacific Coast Trail Wedding Card for Julia and Brian

Hello, hello! Special hello to Julia and Brian, Cassandra and Alex, 'Carol with an e' and Jody,  - hi guys and gals. Its a very wintery day - there's a ton of snow just on my patio alone - definitely a snowboots kinda day! So what better way to show off this card I made because its a) wedding card and what better theme to combat the winter  and b) its inspired by the Pacific Coast Trail which I am pretty sure looks just grand and a beautiful contrast to our drab view! Of course, its main inspiration is the blessed union of two special young souls, Julia and Brian !! Julia I have known for a long time as our families were once neighbours on a lovely tree-lined street.  And our children became childhood friends!  Together with her lively sister Cassandra, and my daughterAlex, they played in the trees, on the grass and at the zoo...until those activities transformed into meeting ' for lunch' as they have all grown up on us.  I keep in touch with the...

Christmas Kiss - Penny Black

Wow I looooooooooove this stamp!  Its really pretty and its been my challenge this season because I am not used to colouring stamps this large!!!  Gasp - turns out all those Copic lessons are true, you DO need to know how to blend, lol. But I did pretty good because instead of trying to be what I am not {a copic/marker colourist extroidinare} - I did what I do-do best and that is just wing it!  Hee hee!  And I heard about 'frantage' so I now have another new interest - that is what is great this year, I actually have been learning or rather exploring new things - yeah for me! SO enough chat - here is the stamp above: AND here are my efforts - I really enjoyed being set loose with the embellishments! I painted this green one using watercolour pencils after I stamped and embossed the image with White Embossing Powder.  So it looks wildly bright - but I went with the whimsical nature of it all and I think its rather "artsy"!  ...

a Christmas Card for Great Guys!

Good Morning Crafters! Another snow-less December day in our parts - which is good for me as I've been hanging the outdoor lights on our front entrance and today I need to put up a swag as well - lots of fun! Meanwhile I am keeping my thoughts to cards that need to be mailed away!  No sense making great hand-made cards trouble and then missing the important Due Dates - so sorry I am not posting as much because I am simply busy-busy! But this card is for a good guy!    'Andy'  kindly went through some trouble while I stayed at his home visiting his mom, and making him a card was fairly easy when you think of 'natural' materials {nice flecked & off-white cardstock for starters}...and I think its fair to say that wildlife is a popular choice!!! I love this deer - plus its one of my first sets of stamps, long ago from FLOURISHES  c 2007!  Goodness even the name of the set is FLOURISHED CHRISTMAS ,  and at the time, the scroll/flourished an...
