Hey everyone! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Today I am blogging about the card I made in the middle of the night, lol. It started with the idea that I wanted to use the bear from Stampin' Up!'s Cookie Cutter bundle set {stamp and punch}. My intended recipient loves bears and I was dying to do a shabby chic style card, so voila! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Some details: I dyed a piece of white satin ribbon using ink. Ink refills {liquids} are so helpful to create co-ordinating materials for your projects. Soft sponging of paler colours help to frame your main more colourful image. Add more details by layering accents such as my poinsettias and label. </div>

There it is - I love doing soft colours paired with white for pretty styled christmas cards!!! Hope everyone is having a safe and enjoyable holiday season this year, cheers!</div>

<br />
Here's my trick'or'treat for my daughter! A good book and some chocolates delightfully tucked into this adorable batty treat box! <br />
I found the polka dot cardstock recently and I had just barely enough to make my treat box and I also purchased some black twine, so I was quite happy as I always like to use up my cardstock as much as possible. The thing about our crafty supplies is that they can be abundant at first, then a year or two goes by and that particular pattern is no longer around! Any rate, a book and chocolate - a terrific treat for anybody :)<br />
Happy Halloween everyone!Beverly's Stamping Beehivehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17251826039373444208noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-205518061631126819.post-48975522556589318812018-10-22T11:39:00.001-04:002018-12-04T21:33:38.414-05:00Christmas Cards with Ink EffectsHi Crafters,<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And while I was left with messy finge</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
rs and palm, I totally loved the process! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The process is to </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1) Dribble some ink drops from your source of liquid ink refill bottles onto a non-absorbant surface - I used parchment baking paper.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2) Nearby have smooth or glossy cardstock. Glossy cardstock would give the most dramatic results but I managed with some regular white cardstock. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
3) Next you lay some flexible plastic film (saran wrap) over the ink and using fingertips gently squish the plastic. You're aiming to create flat smooth spots with less ink and wrinkles where the ink can puddle up, and repeat all over... dragging the plastic film and smoothing with your fingertips simultaneously. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Seriously its not rocket science and the more you play at it - the more you'll discover! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
4) After moving the ink around till you're satisfied, carefully 'lift' the plastic up revealing the inky surface. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
5) Now place a section of paper overtop and the contact will transfer the ink pattern to the paper.... Cool! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Remember, this is creating a special effect paper and there is no right or wrong way... so fun it up! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
SEE WHAT I MADE WITH MY BACKGROUNDS ON MY NEXT POST - ITS GREAT!! Bye for now :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hey summer friends! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Today I want to show off my first card using the 'free' stamp set from Creative Stamping Issue 57! The magazine cost me about $27 Cdn which I admit is steep, but I really, really, really wanted the huge stamp set that came with it! GO WILD is a safari-style stamp set that contains large wildlife stamps and plenty of accent stamps including one very gorgeous African savanna tree, the acacia! I can't wait to use that one! Plus there are themed greetings....it's all there! AND there is a mini-ink cube to boot! Yeah! Along with a magazine that features many examples featuring the included stamp set - so this more than justified the price for me. I shall be watching for future issues :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had a hard time choosing which of the animal images to start with but I went with the sweet llama .</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP1W7HeI8pstIeu_cFN-HIsIHS7Nlo9vrOTN5G53onyA8w7vlDRQl0NlnWQ5-8NorQsvErRwnzmOGldFl8GUTdrpaSC_h6n84BdyunDxchtEXeKJhHeqRYgneD1Fld7iQrKJWZdPGQNf4/s1600/DSC_1698.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="902" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP1W7HeI8pstIeu_cFN-HIsIHS7Nlo9vrOTN5G53onyA8w7vlDRQl0NlnWQ5-8NorQsvErRwnzmOGldFl8GUTdrpaSC_h6n84BdyunDxchtEXeKJhHeqRYgneD1Fld7iQrKJWZdPGQNf4/s400/DSC_1698.JPG" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I started by using Distress inks to create my card base and then stamped it with a leaf stamp in the mini ink cube . Using my watercolour pencils, I coloured the llama which I had stamped in black. Next, I created and coloured a long strip of cardstock using the border stamp. A bit of glitter on the leaves, a couple of fussy cut leaves and a greeting finished it off. Voila! </div>

Sharing coffee with friends is a regular activity for me and I wanted to show my gratitude to a pair of elderly women who make me laugh - they are a fiesty pair and good company. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used my "Coffee Talk" stamp and die for both cards but gave each individual treatment. I found it very engaging and really enjoyed my crafty efforts. </div>

I made a swap with my friend and the theme was to use the very last stamp and/or die we purchased! Mine was this cactus embossing folder and clear stamp: a great little bargain I found for $2!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpeyP7w-CMPoviacTNztEfA1zC9f31hD8owRv77vSb_GuZF1ZhLZT1eMtheGvyROI0UoSq1qlG1sXc4WWwtic-wJZbDYBzju0OcV88M9T7fiSXSgECAj9hxJ-vACgYSUaiqtKOxoAgo3w/s1600/DSC_1546.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="902" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpeyP7w-CMPoviacTNztEfA1zC9f31hD8owRv77vSb_GuZF1ZhLZT1eMtheGvyROI0UoSq1qlG1sXc4WWwtic-wJZbDYBzju0OcV88M9T7fiSXSgECAj9hxJ-vACgYSUaiqtKOxoAgo3w/s320/DSC_1546.JPG" width="180" /></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That's my cute little straw pig holding up my two projects. As they have 3D qualities I will explain how I prepped them for mailing. I merely glued foam I cut from makeup sponges, works great!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4W3Pbf0jSggk4PEN0zyWNN98i8YoDkhpe6kSGrTpdJS01Fgdi7ia_6zyLr6N2KzXhsrhC6r2o5KtHoZfZ0-AWq0X-oU_m-z9c0l1LIAn6nwbZc3KQVLCWY0NwxziHrspalMJZsTBE7_k/s1600/DSC_1543.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="902" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4W3Pbf0jSggk4PEN0zyWNN98i8YoDkhpe6kSGrTpdJS01Fgdi7ia_6zyLr6N2KzXhsrhC6r2o5KtHoZfZ0-AWq0X-oU_m-z9c0l1LIAn6nwbZc3KQVLCWY0NwxziHrspalMJZsTBE7_k/s320/DSC_1543.JPG" width="180" /></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Another thing was I used up some really old brads and an eyelet from my embellishments. I used alcohol markers to colour white brads! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The embossed mat featuring the cactus is cardstock from DCVW which was sanded. I thought that turned out great! I wanted bright colours and I love how it all turned out. To add a bit of interest, I tied some orange twine across the card top and created tiny banners that can swing about when you shake the card, they make a soft tap sound and it's kind of fun to do, lol!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn4Uh8aVrBi_4IdyKqgTMKMP51fXLP0JghKFjLk2tDHFHaTj6QVPgia8BsxSAHa-qbFs0XN5luKhzrYMepqFUSAM6VyfKwnF_fiDGiwfsBNfGZMstDXO6kAQKZ_8tZ-QegkuFt8TcxEc8/s1600/DSC_1555.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="902" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn4Uh8aVrBi_4IdyKqgTMKMP51fXLP0JghKFjLk2tDHFHaTj6QVPgia8BsxSAHa-qbFs0XN5luKhzrYMepqFUSAM6VyfKwnF_fiDGiwfsBNfGZMstDXO6kAQKZ_8tZ-QegkuFt8TcxEc8/s320/DSC_1555.JPG" width="320" /></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Its hard to see but the tag is mounted on a clear tag and attaching the cardstock was easily done with the eyelet. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioOARIMBj0UpXw9fXmn1ekvhFR8_zB-6t2eOootIkCnWj3OSqy7kIvCQT4ndXbL0UoqVmVfJVj7YPL2uVeyN79o0X7hs367Cq4pQCo2VcIcSmOqmgkD4v-H1hUsUySQ8tJNVF4bELvMBM/s1600/DSC_1549.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="902" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioOARIMBj0UpXw9fXmn1ekvhFR8_zB-6t2eOootIkCnWj3OSqy7kIvCQT4ndXbL0UoqVmVfJVj7YPL2uVeyN79o0X7hs367Cq4pQCo2VcIcSmOqmgkD4v-H1hUsUySQ8tJNVF4bELvMBM/s320/DSC_1549.JPG" width="180" /></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The sweet butterfly has a foam backed wing as well. It survived the mail which is all you can hope for, right? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Okay! First summery makes and I am already cooking up new projects! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Enjoy your summer! </div>

Choosing beautiful colours to celebrate Mother's Day was fairly </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
easy as I always love the combo of pink, green and white! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I chose to use my <a href="https://altenew.com/products/fantasy-floral-3d-die-set">Fantasy Floral 3D Die Set from Altenew</a>, and my </div>

and butterfly! White on white is always so clean and fresh!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The flowers were cut from Altenew's 3D type dies and I watercoloured</div>

the flowers using watercolour pencils. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The butterfly is very detailed and requires attention to die-cut it well. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But I used a cardstock that has a tone-on-tone satin-to-matte finish and when you </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
sponge ink onto it, the pattern becomes more obvious. I layered the die so I</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
could fluff up the butterfly. The same goes for the hearts - everything helps</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
to add dimension and life to this card. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hi crafters. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Today I want to show a trick I like to resort to when I craft up my cards. When I am under no pressure, I will have a craft session where I design 'parts' of a card. It could be making flowers or as I will share today - making card fronts. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As I have my craft supplies laid out, it's quick to make two duplicates. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ok, I have pulled out a banner stamp and coordinating die set and have chosen my ink colours. I placed each banner stamp on a clear block and set the blocks directly onto the ink pads. These are small banners and it will take time to cover a 4x6 in. card front. The technique is to stamp one card front first and double stamp onto the other card front without re-inking first. Then repeat till you've covered your cardstock. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

As you can see, I am getting a bright effect on the left card front and an almost pastel effect on the right! Neat! I am not at all worried if the ink isn't evenly stamped but I try to space out the design as best as I can. It is a background after all, so just enjoy the process! </div>

<br />
My entry for this year is a sweet treat box I presented to a nice lady who loves crafting like the rest of us. So inside was stuffed with an assortment of little embellishments to use on her projects and a wee bit of chocolate. This is the <b><span style="color: #cc0000;"><a href="https://mamaelephant.com/collections/creative-cuts/products/favor-bag-creative-cuts">Mama Elephant's Favor Bag</a> </span></b>decorated it with a heart die (retired)and a Martha Stewart tag. Using a different colour for each side of the box just for added kick! I also upcycled some ribbon, why not!<br />

Which is probably why I try to put a really good effort because it's a nice change and you want your first card of the year to go well, right?<br />
<br />
Here it is then, my first card of 2018! Ta da!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhO20DjMjQri74YLZASu2lybYYNHebndKtoJ-T9eutAieP9VMAtndG6Feqc_5jjOATf6NmQTQ__OKmwpStWwEkIxXLo6vYLWa2x3Z0ODhynTaDx23hfZV20IkLMkwCTAJm0wCRkl0_rXtk/s1600/DSC_1140.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="902" data-original-width="1600" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhO20DjMjQri74YLZASu2lybYYNHebndKtoJ-T9eutAieP9VMAtndG6Feqc_5jjOATf6NmQTQ__OKmwpStWwEkIxXLo6vYLWa2x3Z0ODhynTaDx23hfZV20IkLMkwCTAJm0wCRkl0_rXtk/s400/DSC_1140.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here in Canada we are in the thick of our winter, and for anyone with a birthday in December, January or February - I thought pairing roses with snowflakes could be both beautiful and a nod to their being children of winter! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now for some details. The snowflake background was created with Martha Steward <b>Scalloped Snowflake</b> punch. This is one in their class of punches called <i>All Over the Page</i>. These punches have two parts that align with magnets allowing you to punch anywhere over the surface of your paper. They take a little getting used to and are not something I'd recommend for weak-wristed crafters. While it takes effort, you can really get great design results! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju8tnyIdgfIqBBWtFSTzI6PeewAQPTbxUA7LRJG7Vo-VvnkBR05LSgRohPN4CN7npW9_Kvjpp4LBhmTZk-lJLozPuS2ADdNhJqL5x2ZQys09ufz2PzZKkyo-G0q3xqdfnp8MUO_yPkuvc/s1600/DSC_1131.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1112" data-original-width="1600" height="277" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju8tnyIdgfIqBBWtFSTzI6PeewAQPTbxUA7LRJG7Vo-VvnkBR05LSgRohPN4CN7npW9_Kvjpp4LBhmTZk-lJLozPuS2ADdNhJqL5x2ZQys09ufz2PzZKkyo-G0q3xqdfnp8MUO_yPkuvc/s400/DSC_1131.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used a scalloped rectangle die to create my inside greeting mat, here's a wee peek [sorry the personal message was already written ]....I liked that it tied into the snowflake scalloped edge. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And white, pinks and brown - what a nice colour combination, don't you think? I loved it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There you go, hope it inspires you towards any winter birthdays you have to create for, cheers!</div>

<br />
Here's the reason why I purchased this card die set so that I could make a batch of cards without too much fuss!<br />
With the words Merry Christmas blazing across the front - what could be easier?<br />
<br />
You could make all the same style or customize each one as I chose to. I think I will purchase those adhesive sheets to cut the detailed words because it takes a bit of effort to glue it in place using regular adhesives, but it is still a nice way to cut through your card list! <br />
<br />
One morning I took time to create my embellishments using a variety of little accent pieces and with the aid of my glue gun. Using a glue gun makes quick work of attaching foil-to-foil, foil-to-fabric or other hard to glue materials.<br />
Give it a try!<br />
<br />

Super cute shaker ornament card with an adorable penquin peeking out! This card features a number of techniques of which none are difficult but as a group takes time. I definitely spent a couple of hours putting it together, but I love it so I would do it again!! <br />
<br />
Here's some of the supplies I used:<br />
Jillibean Soup Ornament Shaker Stamp<br />
Stampin' Up retired penquin stamp, scalloped border die,<br />
Martha Stewart Branch punch,<br />
Simon Says Stamp High Tide, Hot Mama and Black inks,<br />
various embossing powders, Versamark ink, confetti snowflake punch.<br />
<br />

Our lovely fall is bestowing us with all its gracious gifts: weather ranging from crisp to warm, wind whirls of leaves, colours spreading throughout nature and of course, the thanksgiving fare for us to share!<br />
So when I discovered Lindsey Serata's '<span style="color: #b45f06;"><b>Pumpkin Spice</b></span>' collection of stamps and dies (c/o Sizzix), I was most intrigued by her shaker pocket sets.<br />
Now a week further, and I am the happy owner of the <b><span style="background-color: #f1c232;"><a href="https://www.sizzix.com/662275/sizzix-framelits-die-set-8pk-multi-frame-shaker-pocket">Multi-frame Shaker Pocket</a></span> </b>die set! And I present my first project...<br />

I really love how <b>Sizzix </b>Designer <b>Lindsey Serata</b> included so many die pieces in this set - even wee little confetti dies to make your own sequin/confetti shapes! As you can see I've layered my word dies and that gorgeous coppery metallic paper really pops with the black paper behind it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I didn't use the pocket and frames for a shaker card but rather as a gift box to which I tucked in a couple of Nescafe's coffee pouches and I will present it to someone as a small 'thinking of you' gesture. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgddHraAP46QxdTNJ1N4OmGp8IuxI12udgr6-0ouD8-8dt6BOqEdE8QcfydzQGy4wr0p6ATdmLIqtiEP5fD6UQ0In238EFJppIx6jYBz3VFovE4LRoSjW9Wfg8wgbZuO_ZI4boOzqDpMJQ/s1600/DSC_0855.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="902" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgddHraAP46QxdTNJ1N4OmGp8IuxI12udgr6-0ouD8-8dt6BOqEdE8QcfydzQGy4wr0p6ATdmLIqtiEP5fD6UQ0In238EFJppIx6jYBz3VFovE4LRoSjW9Wfg8wgbZuO_ZI4boOzqDpMJQ/s320/DSC_0855.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
At first I used an older background rubber stamp and coloured it by smudging a trio of inks in a random fashion. But wasn't thrilled with it, so I tried to pair it with a blue frame (cut with a sizzix die) and 'still' didn't feel it!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrffHHGWLsMy7J5OWzxc2KRsRsK3oslCj08NVjRw4dwrAeiIf2foCx661HI63PJk7E6SbG4FdC4aSPKbgrQbFhXxmxjFFUS-_lx9iOS_cYIkOV8PfqTTzygnDL45LMp3-IjWPy5g8vPt0/s1600/DSC_0854.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="902" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrffHHGWLsMy7J5OWzxc2KRsRsK3oslCj08NVjRw4dwrAeiIf2foCx661HI63PJk7E6SbG4FdC4aSPKbgrQbFhXxmxjFFUS-_lx9iOS_cYIkOV8PfqTTzygnDL45LMp3-IjWPy5g8vPt0/s320/DSC_0854.JPG" width="180" /></a></div>
Finally I needed a thank you card and quickly - and that got my creative juices flowing and now I am very pleased with it, just goes to show!<br />
I attached it to an orange cardstock card base and embellished it with some red satin ribbon and gems. I had to cover a blotch by squiggling on some Nuovo glitter on the blue top section but that is totally fine.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(covered my personal message) </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My inside became an integral part of the card as I used a border punch, stamping and more gems to frame my message. I hope the recipients feel the special attention I strived to give! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Did you notice no white? Great! </div>

I am enjoying the beautiful weather as I hope you all are. Important to me are sneaking in relaxing coffee moments (during busy preparations...)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

And speaking of cups, I turned out the most adorable project for the holiday as a Hostess gift! I will provide the YouTube link below so you can see how to make these "treat mini-cups" - they are fast and easy to make once you get a groove on! I made a stack of the main piece and did all one stage at a time. This way you can watch more YouTube videos whilst churning out a bunch of these.<br />

<br />
I wanted to post a project I did for a swap on <b><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://www.swap-bot.com/">Swap-Bot</a></span></b> awhile ago as its a little unusual and therefore might interest someone. As you know, often us crafters will decorate anything that isn't nailed down so when I signed up for this swap, I thought "paint brush?....well, why not!" Then as I got into it, it was fun for its challenge as it is an odd shape. There are plenty of others who feel the urge to decorate paint brushes as I found out searching for inspiration, so you just never know, right?<br />
<br />
I bought a narrow brush mainly because I liked the colour of the bristles, they were a sort of burgandy shade. But a wider brush would give one more space to decorate. So I thought I would add a large bow on the handle to add some pizzaz and balance the over-all look. With that, I went to town and created my own metal tags, embossed snowflakes onto the freshly painted handle, made my own glitter felt to wrap around the metal part, and then topped things off with some cute gems. I cautiously hot-glued on stars to the brushes which worked out fine.....so if you ever want to have a different project, try a paint brush, lol!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
However, this is a cautionary tale - my efforts went un-noticed by the recipient, my 'partner' in the swap. She also did not create and send her altered paintbrush to the partner she was assigned. This was my second of only two swaps I entered on the site Swap-Bot. They are pretty stringent about requiring participants to have established a 'rating' before accepting them into swaps. Newbies are only allowed to join in 'newbie-friendly' swaps where the organizer or Hostess arranges a swap that helps newbies to get started. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Sadly, these people exist who take advantage of others, and at Christmas time too, so sad they feel they must act like that. So be warned, in any swap, there exists the danger that you will not be treated fairly. Usually, the Hostess is on top of things, or ought to be. There are sometimes 'Angels' who will take it upon themselves to help those who were left out, but not always. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have participated in craft forums for many years where this sort of thing did not happen routinely, only rarely. In larger swaps where there are not as many moderators as there are people to watch over, I imagine it can be harder to catch these swap trolls. So my final word is: try and hope for the best. I wouldn't want to not try, but if you find a forum that is too big to manage the large amount of swap trolls, find another swap forum. </div>

I paused to think where are the robots around the house, and my flying car? Not yet I'm afraid, my awesome futuristic life is still around the bend.....but hey, I'll wait some more, lol. And it looks as if I may have to still exercise....no fancy solution there either. Sigh. [actually I love my stretching routines....and at this time of year, do you notice the shift in the morning light-- the most fantastic sun shiny mornings. really its lovely].<br />
<br />
SO! I am still going to post some of my christmas cards - and do you know why? Because I didn't finish posting some of them, but I promised myself that I would do more holiday cards in preparation for next year, and darn, I'm gonna do that! How about you - any similar plans?<br />
<br />
Here is the most complicated card(s) I did this 2016.....following the <b><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPth6sobAF4">Twist and Pop Card Technique</a> </b>as I learned it watching <i>Collette Mitrega's </i>youtube demo. (click on link to view).<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
During the crafting of my first card, the one pictured with the poinsettia belly band, I made double the cardstock pieces and was able to craft a second card rather quickly. You can see how varied you can make the card's design, use your imagination. The cards can fit into a regular envelope but depends on how " chubby " you make them, and that also affects the postage. I pay 1.00 for a normal card according to the postal standards, but for these I had to pay 1.80. I'm fine with that. You should see what I pay for some oversized cards :)!</div>

<br />
- <i>Forever in Time</i> ready-made <b>Black Chalkboard Cards</b> (sold with white envelopes);<br />
- <i>Jillibean Soup</i> <b>Ornament Shaker Clear Stamp Set </b>- very<b> </b>budget-friendly and 9 pcs!;<br />
- <i>Avery Elle</i> <b>Happy Howl-idays Clear Stamp Set</b> ;<br />
- <i>Avery Elle</i> <b>Happy Howl-days Die;</b><br />
<b>- </b><i>DoCraft </i> <b>Mistletoe Die.</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
The ornament stamp is part of Jillibean Soup's Shape Shaker Program - a series of stamps, dies and inserts to create shaker cards naturally! But I simply wanted a 'window-style' card to show off my dog stamp. <br />
<br />
I decided to try out the new chalkboard folded cards I had bought on a whim and my mind was set on trying to create a modern style card that a young professional would like. My daughter could then use it to give to anyone of her co-workers! I think I did well :)<br />

These have a <u>slick surface</u>, so I used sticky tape to attach everything. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To stamp on it (not shown), I used a silver pigment ink and was very careful not to smudge. </div>

There are 6 cards and 6 envelopes to each pack. </div>

More cards to share coming up! </div>

<br />
I am getting along with my holiday preparations with the end in sight, how about you? My handmade cards that require mailing are done and all have been posted. So far I have designed each and every card 'on the spot' and while that means it takes that much longer, its a process I enjoy...like tinkering around! <br />
<br />
Here is a couple of snapshots of my craft zone where you'll find me in the morning....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifbH8ZKaqM_-uohdrZfRi7w90KwkGBwxz5YfF5ONog_9hcnQmastLhnKQlFECATQM2HZeXZzh1G6pKcIfLdG1CcviJefOryaQ4Bu0txLektFbFQ5laR3CQpCIioBX7OXM8MpCla5J2YZ0/s1600/More+Xmas+2016+Cards+035+-+Copy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="227" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifbH8ZKaqM_-uohdrZfRi7w90KwkGBwxz5YfF5ONog_9hcnQmastLhnKQlFECATQM2HZeXZzh1G6pKcIfLdG1CcviJefOryaQ4Bu0txLektFbFQ5laR3CQpCIioBX7OXM8MpCla5J2YZ0/s320/More+Xmas+2016+Cards+035+-+Copy.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
...this is my billboard where I keep some tags, a couple of cards as well as some gift cards - all of this is meant to be a sort of 'grab-n-go' spot for anyone who needs a quick gift-related item. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkHFkM8rw2qeCG1UTLXefJPORaguQ-B9hhNUeLFIyIfFC55f3ZdB_ksCrvPDBGtOgQBKMoGju3FzgKDX5GC6e3SbSwVDg7255ldrghz2NR1pqiM5HnmJRcFzOSEcXiES8ALfelp1TPbDU/s1600/More+Xmas+2016+Cards+036+-+Copy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="234" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkHFkM8rw2qeCG1UTLXefJPORaguQ-B9hhNUeLFIyIfFC55f3ZdB_ksCrvPDBGtOgQBKMoGju3FzgKDX5GC6e3SbSwVDg7255ldrghz2NR1pqiM5HnmJRcFzOSEcXiES8ALfelp1TPbDU/s320/More+Xmas+2016+Cards+036+-+Copy.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is a display on top of my stamp bookcase. There is my daughter's candles she made in grade 3; the 2nd-hand birdhouse I found and refinished a few years ago; the wreath is from Avon maybe 10 years ago (??) and my beloved angel statue where I've hung the little beaded bell given to me by my darling Mommy Crandall who went to heaven years ago. Finally my new candle jar from Pier 1...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6ki2rS4U_dX-2RD3Hm-YBzkBLEdYsbrP5BOyx6oH6I7aaSAIA2EZ1e3dnzQ-3olE0lf7ANB9F7oKPXuV8_TC8rrUB8Sn1qTbWwGq08vR1t-zPvfavfd-6fk38_xh7jE93Kax2hTEgk9c/s1600/More+Xmas+2016+Cards+037+-+Copy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6ki2rS4U_dX-2RD3Hm-YBzkBLEdYsbrP5BOyx6oH6I7aaSAIA2EZ1e3dnzQ-3olE0lf7ANB9F7oKPXuV8_TC8rrUB8Sn1qTbWwGq08vR1t-zPvfavfd-6fk38_xh7jE93Kax2hTEgk9c/s320/More+Xmas+2016+Cards+037+-+Copy.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
.....and here are my envelopes I keep nearby my crafting bench. The envelopes are an assortment of sizes and colours from the selection sold at <b><i>Papergardens</i></b>. Some have a beautiful soft metallic finish, others have a natural feel and some are textured - but all are beautiful quality envelopes. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can't see but I have a few sheets of christmas seals in there [ I always need to add a little something to my envelopes too! :) ] Next to the envies is my little jar of pretty pink glitter which I only use on "special" cards, lol.....I am actually kinda hoarding this particular glitter, its chunky and a beautiful pale pink colour, yum!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So that is what I see first thing in the morning when I tiptoe past the sleeping dog, with my first cuppa of coffee.....I have some organized mess too, but that is for another day! LOL</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Where do you craft?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
How are you doing in your holiday count-down? Good I hope :)<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My style of creating cards evolves over a period of weeks as I prioritize according to: distance to mail and who'll we will be seeing first; along with how labour-intensive the cards are. Meanwhile there are the local community good-will cards - these are simple designs so I can crank them out as I move along and give them out leisurely. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Each year I lovingly lay out my crafting space...new supplies all lay waiting to make my annual DIY holiday cards - something I like to do first thing in the morning with my first coffee - before the dog wakes up, lol. Generally I plot out a plan for designs beginning early - think August! <br />
<br />
And it never goes to plan.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This time, while digging around in my supply closet I discovered a box of left-over bits from <i>years ago</i>, and I thought " Holy Hannah! I've GOT to use these supplies up! " </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So today's topic is ' Using Your Stash ' !!! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here's my first card made from some old card mats featuring an embossed frame. I also brought out my older Stampin' Up! ORNAMENT PUNCH [retired] - just like ol' times! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next up are some simple tags featuring Stampin' Up!'s [retired] Stocking Punch......and the fun part, was there were a few dozen of these I had punched out....all different patterned paper. So I gathered them up and spread them out on a table, and within minutes I had chose pairs and attached them to small mats of cardstock. Afterwards, I took some decorative corner scissors and made rounded tags of them - presto! I may add some lip balms to these to turn them into the gifts I hand out to the gals at the coffee shop :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
